About Greylyn Owens

Greylyn grew up in North Carolina where she graduated with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Studio Art from NCCU. She then went and received her master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado.
She is very passionate about supporting individuals by creating a space to explore, create, reflect and connect in therapy. She expresses compassionate presence by demonstrating acceptance, empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard in individual and group sessions while working with the here and now.

Grounded in a contemplative mindful approach, she uses a holistic and non-judgmental view with each client. Just because she is an art therapist does not mean that art therapy will always be utilized as a method. Greylyn believes that the client determines whether or not this will be used. The other theoretical orientations she uses are AEDP, Feminists Psychology, and Transpersonal Psychology. AEDP uses both experiential and dynamic methods with the foundation of attachment theory and emotion theory. Feminists Psychology focuses on acknowledging the social and political convictions that impact an individual and then moving to an emotional exploration. I use this orientation to support the whole experience of the client. Transpersonal Psychology highlights the want to grow and flourish to our highest potential. Transpersonal Psychology can support humans and be somewhat of a road map for exploring the whole person: mind, body, and soul.
Overall, Greylyn’s goal is to support and meet the client where they are at by providing a container for expression and healing.
